About the artist

Harry Thomas Edwards, born in the UK in 1993, is a visual artist and songwriter based in Berlin. His passion for creating and drawing started from a very young age, continued all the way through school years, eventually leading him to Fine Art at Kingston University in south London.

The ten years spent in London ebbed and flowed from periods of focusing on visual arts, and various musical projects. The move to Berlin in 2019 gave the artist freedom along with an opportunity to secure a painting studio. In 2021 the artist and his partner had an unexpectedly long stay in New Zealand during the global pandemic, which had a big influence on the work he was making.

Expressionism has always been central to the work created, with elements of the sub conscious and the abstract being heavily explored. Working mainly in oil paint and home made mediums, colour and paint application, as well as line making and subject have of course developed over the years, however inspiration from nature and the transcendental properties of things like music have remained constant.

Harry has had solo exhibitions and group shows in New Zealand, Germany and the UK, influences have come from names such as Patrick Heron, Karel Apel, Ida Ekblad, Frank Auerbach, Mark Rothko, Joan Miro, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Tal R to name a few.
